Inside the Ranch House, stunning open beamed ceilings and a grand fireplace beckons residents to make themselves at home in the Sunset Lounge. Residents can enjoy the Grand Chaparral Ballroom, conference facilities, a demonstration kitchen and much more. Just outside the ballroom, residents can relax on the stone patio complete with a fireplace to keep warm as the autumn nights cool off. And the numerous decorative fountains are sure to help folks unwind.
Down the steps is a 4,000 square foot pool and nearby kids wading pool with splash pad to keep cool with the lingering warm days. With shaded cabanas and a bath house with showers, The Ranch House pool area is more like a resort than a community center. A picnic lawn and shaded lattice covered gas barbeques complete the outside features.
"The weather has brought many residents over to enjoy the pool, patio area and barbeques,” said Greg Dobson, The Ranch House general manger. “It’s really their extended backyard.” The Ranch House also features free wireless internet access, allowing residents the opportunity to balance relaxation with the convenience of staying connected.
The distinctive architecture of The Ranch House is in harmony with the community’s ranch-style theme. Residents are welcomed under a grand porte-cochere and simple, but stately stonework which adorns all sides of The Ranch House. A decorative iron entry gate greets visitors at the reception; and wooden water wheel on one side harkens back to a simpler time and adds more ranch-themed flare.
“We wanted to build something that was architecturally striking while still being as comfortable as the residents’ very own family rooms,” said Rebecca Parre of Newland Communities. “We knew The Ranch House would be the highlight of the community.”
There are many events geared toward resident families at The Ranch House. Saturday is family bingo in The Ballroom from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Ranch House will also play host to Newland Communities’ annual Pumpkin Festival. This year the event is taking place on October 18th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and will raise money for the local HomeAid chapter here in Sacramento as well as Project Joy. The Pumpkin Festival will be open to Whitney Ranch residents and their guests.
In addition to events hosted by the Whitney Ranch Community Association, The Ranch House is also designed for residents to host their own events. All of the single-family home resident members at Whitney Ranch have exclusive access to the facilities on site, many of which can be reserved for special occasions or large gatherings.
Many groups that meet at at The Ranch House are resident groups that have been formed by neighbors with common interests.
- The Gourmet Group meets monthly for a dinner party in the Ranch House’s demonstration kitchen.
-Ladies Bunco meets at least one Friday every month, while a group of yoga-lovers meets in the ballroom the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month.
-Playgroup is one of the most popular meet ups and is scheduled regularly at the Ranch House.
